There are literally hundreds of CDL  schools across the country, each with different programs.  As with any business, there are good ones and there are bad ones.  But you have to know what to look for in a trucking school.
  There are essentially
three different types of CDL truck driver training programs.  The first is a private school, the second is a public institution and the third is a training program run by a motor carrier.

Salary Information
Depending on the type of truck driven, salaries for truck drivers can vary greatly. Salaries for trained, heavy truck drivers range from $30,931 to $46,214. Light or delivery truck drivers earn around $22,656 to $30,720. Although the U.S. Department of Labor reports these as median salaries, many trained drivers earn less or more than those averages.

Education Requirements
Truck drivers are required by law to be licensed to operate a truck. Truck driving schools offer licensing programs for light and heavy trucks. These trucking schools usually offer accelerated programs.

Growth Statistics

Growth in demand for truck drivers should lead to stable employment for truck driving school graduates. The Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that trucking careers will grow as fast as other in-demand professions through 2014. Job growth with long-distance carriers will most likely be greater than with local carriers.

The CDL test is divided in two sections: the General Knowledge Test and the Road Driving Test. The first part is a written test which includes subjects like endorsements, air brakes, cargo vehicles, combination vehicles, hazardous materials, passenger vehicles, tank vehicles, school bus endorsement and doubles and triples.
